Welcome to the Grumpy Chair, a site where I channel my emotional insecurities, iconoclastic frustrations and daily miseries into bite-sized literary entertainment.
The question I imagine often being asked, if I had enough friends here to be asked anything, is “Are you really grumpy?” The answer is Yes. And no. I see a lot of injustice, ugliness and slow torture in the world. It bothers me, especially when I am subject to it. But I find solace in writing, imagining and laughing, even hopeless laughter.
I do my best to avoid being part of the problem. I have a wonderful job that I moved across the country to accept and every day I’m glad I did. I’m alone on the west coast, I miss my dogs and my friends and having a girlfriend. But as I spin tales from my grumpy chair I hope that those feelings can be transmogrified into laughter at my expense. Remember, some of this stuff is fiction. Some of it.
